My Story
As a first generation Canadian, Dr. Judit Antonyrajan grew up in a war-torn country without access to timely eye care; This is where her passion for optometry began. She obtained her Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences in Biology & Pharmacology Co-op with distinction at McMaster University. She graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree on the Dean's Honours list from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2024 and was the recipient of the Dr. Stelios Nikolakakis Award for Clinical Excellence in Vision Therapy. She was recognized for this award in her graduating class by the faculty.
In her final year of optometry studies, Dr. Judit Antonyrajan obtained an externship in ocular disease at the Eye Centers of South Florida, where she worked at two busy Ophthalmology/optometry clinics. She was tasked with pre and post-operative follow-ups for corneal/cataract/retinal/oculoplastic surgeries.
She was also an intern at the Sea to Sky Optometry in rural British Columbia, where she managed a variety of eye conditions.
She also engaged in vision therapy and provided mobile eye exams to First Nation communities/schools. She fell in love with nature and serving small communities here.
During her time at UW, she was the president of the Independent Optometry club and vice president of VOSH (organization dedicated to providing optometric services to underserved communities). For her leadership skills, she was awarded the Practice Excellence Scholarship by the American Academy of Optometry Foundation. She also received the International award, Fiera Capital award and Optometry Opportunity award by the university.
Her special interests are myopia control, ocular disease and vision therapy. During holidays, Dr. Antonyrajan loves to travel, learn about new cultures and spend time with her family/friends. She is very excited to serve the community of North Bay and surrounding areas.
